Tonight's news. . . .

Temperatures are slightly down outside and should be better tomorrow, finally. And fortunately no blackout last night, although I did get one of those automated calls from Con Ed telling me to shut off all nonessential appliances, including my beloved air conditioner. I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Today I went to work, then taught my class. Only seven out of 12 students showed up tonight. The heat and the heavy reading load is finally getting to them, I think. I readjusted the reading schedule for the remaining few days of class and let them out early.

I have not been able to get to a yoga class for a couple of weeks because of my heavy teaching schedule. But tonight I did the twenty-five-minute "power yoga for flexibility" workout at home with a DVD. It felt good.

I have promised my students their midterms back tomorrow but I think I am going to have a yogurt and go to bed. I have broken many of those types of promises.

That's all for now.

Clowncar: in the end I opted for the bowl of cereal rather than the yogurt, and it was very good. I teach eighteenth-century British women writers: Eliza Haywood, Sarah Scott, Frances Burney, Charlotte Smith. I don't usually write very specifically in my blog posts about any of this because I am afraid my students will find me. (!) But I will send you an e-mail if you want to know more. Its lots of fun, and what I wrote my dissertation on.
