Sometimes It All Seems Worth It
In the throes of endless grading, reading through my first-year students' end-of-term portfolios, I came across this lovely sentence at the end of one student's cover letter (English, by the way, is not her first language):
"I am still in a process to write a perfect essay for my future English professor to read."
"I am still in a process to write a perfect essay for my future English professor to read."

ppb: yes, i loved it. I loved how she could see the process she is in and that there will be a role in there for a future english professor, with whom I feel an invisible connection since I was also part of this process...
