Forgiveness

That was what the rabbi talked about for his sermon during the evening Yom Kippur service last night. I don't get to services very often, even on the High Holiday Days, but I am in a new city, away from my family on the holidays, and some good friends who live here encouraged me to come to synagogue with them. I had forgotten that part of Yom Kippur--that we are encouraged to atone, to acknowledge our shortcomings over the past year, but also to forgive ourselves and others. This seems like a good thing to take into the new year.

Thanks, Jodi. I have already been acting on this idea--with good results. It can feel very good to let go of things.
